WELCOME TO FALLERS RPG PATCH 1.1: OVER THE RAINBOW!

Welcome one and all and Alola! to the Alola Region! The peaceful islands of Alola is once again, brought forth it’s beautiful Manalo Festival. But on this day, strange things are happening!

On this day, Ultra Holes are opening up, all over the Islands, and people known as Fallers are arriving on the island from other worlds. What sort of strangeness has this prompted such amazing things?

To this end, President Lusamine has re-mobilized her Ultra Guardians in response, and has created a response team from them to help these Fallers recover from the shock of arrival!

But that’s not all. It seems the Tapus have taken note of these Fallers and their uniqueness, and have nudged Pokemon and Eggs towards them, to be recovered by them. What new and exciting things will they see?

Perhaps we will see, as the Fallers are allowed to roam Melemele, for now, as guided tours of the other three Islands and Aether Paradise and Manalo Stadium will be given in short order. For now, homes will be provided for those who have been displaced from their homes until a suitable solution for their situation has been found.

IC: The Four Kahuna and President Lusamine's Address

At the top of the hour, when all the Fallers have gathered at the Manalo Festival Center, Hala, the Kahuna of Melemele, stands at the platform. His voice rings out clear and true across the people.

"People of Alola! On the day of the Radiant One's revival, once again the Ultra Holes have opened up over Alola. This time, people of many nations have arrived in our lands. We, the Kahunas; Olivia, Nanu, Hapu and I, as well as President Lusamine of Aether Foundation, has decided to allow these people to seek shelter and refuge in our lands."

"This is but a temporary solution," said Olivia, taking her turn. "We hope the people of Alola will take these people in with open arms, in their times of need and help them recover."

"Many of them, after interviewing some, come from broken and tired worlds," said Nanu. "Struggles from near and far, have become known to us. It is our hope that our worlds will become closer as a result."

"As such, we have reformed a powerful force indeed to deal with the crisis at hand," said Hapu, as the stage buckled and moved, revealing a team of children dressed in Ride Uniforms, led by Ash Ketchum. "You may know them as the participants in the first Alola Conference!"

"The Ultra Guardians have served to protect Alola from the Ultra Beasts in secret," said Lusamine. "It is our hope with the cooperation of Madam Bewear and her Family," and they indicated the massive Bewear and Stufful who stood at the back of the crowd with Jessie, James and the rest of Team Rocket in their Civilian Outfits, "that we will be able to intercept Fallers and recover them and bring them to a safe location at all points in time in the day and help them acclimate to the world."

"Please, everyone give us your support!" Exclaimed Hala.

As one, the people of Alola roared as the assigned family members, started greeting their newfound adoptees with bright "Alolas!" and "Cousins!"

IC: Gamewide Mingle

As Fallers, you may explore the island, learn about the place, and interact with the various NPCs on request. There are several to meet and different locations to explore!

Pokemon School: A place of learning, the school has opened its doors temporarily for shelter while deciding what to do with the mass influx of people from other worlds. Those who stay will be located to homes. Enrollment into the classes will be optional, and will start in the end of Summer.

Aina Cafeteria: A wonderful restaurant run by Mallow and her father, they run a tight ship of food, and wholesome meals for those to enjoy. You can even work here if you want.

Beaches: Sun, surf, fun, many places here for relaxing and fishing and other such fun. You can go swimming, surfing and using Ride Pokemon to travel and Jetski on.

Tapu Koko’s Forest: A place full of life and Pokemon, learning about this place as it covers most of the area is a wonderful idea as the forest covers a good portion of the island.

Honey Fields: The local bird Pokemon Oricorio frequent this place, and there’s plenty to see here. A relaxing place, with honey and flowers everywhere.

Hau’oli City The main city of Melemele, this is where all the action is! Food, venues, shops, Pokemon, the Market, everything is here. Even your new homes.

IC: PROMPTS!

You can make up your prompts from here! But a selection of ideas are below from the TDM.

1. Arrival
You’ve just arrived! While not an ideal prompt for your test sample, it makes for a good testing for your first reaction here! Having fallen, gotten off the boat or plane from another region, your passport is stamped and processed. If you’re a Native, there’s plenty to see, and can go about your day. But if you’re a Faller, there’s a tour guide waiting for you. Just hold on tight!

2. The Sandy Beaches
Perhaps you’ve had the time to acclimate yourself to the area, and just want to relax now. It’s time to relax in the sunny beach, throw yourself onto the sand and surf, and just chill. You’ve had a long,tough time, and now just want to sleep. Or maybe you’re too excited! This is another world, or another region! Perhaps you’ve been planning this trip to Alola for ages, and now its time to play! The choice is yours!

3. Shopping
What’s a trip to Alola without shopping. There’s food, accessories, more food, clothing, and tourism. Ride some Pokemon, find some things to do. Eat some malasada and shop at Aina’s Kitchen and Team Rocket’s Honey Donuts. If you want to escape the heat, there’s always the mall.

4. Pokemon!
Of course! Pokemon are everywhere. And maybe your Fated Encounter is upon you now. The Tapus are urging a Pokemon to come to you, be it in an Egg format to make its way into your hands, or perhaps a bird or a bug or whatever. Somewhere, a partner is waiting for you, you just have to meet them. And then, perhaps, you will be able to make friends! Just remember in this world? You don’t catch Pokemon -- Pokemon catch you.

5. Travel
There’s plenty to see on Melemele even in one day. There’s a lot of places to travel even by foot, and a lot of room, even in this place. There’s forests, hills, the town, the smaller suburbs, and beaches, an island off the coast, and the honey field even within walking range. Take time to explore and get to know the place, you may be staying for a while until the Ultra Guardians can send you home.

6. Battle
What is Pokemon life without Battling? Now that you have your Pokemon, you can battle with them. But Pokemon battles aren’t just about training but about forming a bond. There’s no such thing as levels in this world, the level system isn’t really a thing here. Sure there’s math and science to count the precise numbers of a Pokemon’s strength but we don’t dwell on this sort of thing. What’s important is forming these bonds with your Pokemon, and learning how to communicate with them, making precious ties with them. Eat, sleep and cherish them as your own family. Manalo, and Ohana. No one is left behind, or forgotten.

7. Freeform
Anything Goes! Come at you, this is a wide world, make up your own prompt!

"As long as you're not terrible to them, at least... ...I haven't been either, but I've looked into it enough. If you don't accept much from them, they may well try to slip things into your back when you aren't looking though, so be careful..." They're sneaky like that!

Anyway. "Mnh." Yuume nods. "Tokyo prefecture, Japan." She'd give the 'city/ward' within it, but she works all over the place so it feels silly at this point... "Where were you from?"

"I already found some berries. Anela tries hard." He snorts.

Japan...hm. Were they from the same Earth? There could be more than one Earth, or they could be from vastly different times...

"I'm from Japan as well. Domino City. But you must be from another era or another Earth if you didn't recognize me..."

There it is. The Kaiba Ego.

"Ahh? Well there you go then," she chuckles, shaking her head. "Ahhh...though, there was some sort of kit filled with berries in my bag when I first got here come to think..."

This is...odd...

Yuume's eyebrows raise a fair bit as Seto mentions Domino however-more so when he adds that bit.

Then she squints. "...And I certainly wouldn't place you too far behind mine if that's the case..." Look she studies history alright. Still...

Still... "My era... ...My year would be 2137," she starts slowly, studying his reaction. "...And yours then..?"

Kaiba notes her reaction, and soon has one of his own when he hears that year. So she knows what would've happened to Domino. He's always kept a clear gaze when thinking of the future, but now, the cascading effect of his disappearance...

He has to wonder.

"2000. Even with my best efforts and advances in medicine, I'd likely die by then...but I'm sure it'd be something to see."

He reaches up toward his neck and flips open the locket, thoughts invariably drawn back to Mokuba. His hope, his future. Surely Mokuba would die by then too, but he'd hoped to leave an impact...

"2000..." Her eyes narrow into an almost characteristic squint, and she looks away tapping her chin in thought. 2000...15 years before the dimensions were reportedly divided into four, and...

...

Oh no. Domino. Her squint moves back toward Seto, and slowly her eyes widen.

Oh no. "...if it isn't too much...what would your name be..?"

Kaiba looks up, resigned, and steels himself for a glimpse of how everything's crumbled in the future.

"Seto Kaiba. President of Kaiba Corporation, though I doubt that means anything to the world as it stands in your time."

Honestly, the dread makes a certain amount of sense. Kaiba suspects that this disappearance isn't going to get resolved any time soon.

Ah.

Ah.

She blinks. She looks away.

"...Ah...." Alright breathe...deep...

Very deep... "...The company still exists, if that is what you are concerned about..." In...and out...

She holds up her glove hand, holding it so the logo is visible so she can focus on something to distract herself. "Your 'duel disk' has changed..."

Keep...keep breathing oh boy...

That reaction is odd. She knows of the company, but not him. Is that...embarrassment? Hm. He tilts his head a little, easily distracted by the glove.

"Mm. I'd hope so, I had five prototypes in stages of completion at any given time..."

He opens his briefcase and takes out a card at random...it's a Kuriboh. How did that get in there? He snorts and holds it up, imagining what would have changed in the presentation.

"How has virtual reality progressed?"

"Only five?" she 'jokes', able to do at least that much now that she's back in contact with her second cousin back home.

...

~~He's probably worried about her, isn't he...~~

Yuume latches onto the new topic, trying desperately not to think about finding any similarities between her relatives and the one before her. "Virtua- Ahhh..." Hmm. "I've used it to train for my job actually," Yuume notes. "It's quite immersive- you can create an entire recreation of someone's Dream using it, including the creatures inside, the possible duel scenarios encountered..."

She lists these matters off, not really recalling the fact that some terms won't make much sense.

Kaiba, well-used to being the smartest person in the room, doesn't quite catch it all. He jots down a few notes that he'll attempt to puzzle over later, nodding his approval. He'd hope his company is still an innovator in the industry.

But there is one thing he still worries about, and he's afraid of the answer, though he doesn't expect to get one in great detail.

"What does history say about my brother, Mokuba?"

Oh, that's good then. She's glad she doesn't have to explain how far off the rails Solid vision was forced to move at least...

Still. "...Mokuba?" ...Hah...

Hahaaa... She tries not to let any emotion flicker into her face and words. "He's still alive, actually. ...He's doing well, as far as I am aware."

Quite impressive, that.

Kaiba clutches his locket once more. It's dangerous to show this much emotion around a stranger, but Mokuba was always his weakness. He can put together from her initial lack of recognition that he's been dead or otherwise gone for a long time...and that just drives his guilt even further.

"I have to find a way back to him. When the portal to our Earth opens, I'll make sure we return to our times."

"...."

She needs to make certain she never speaks of this again, from here.

"...I'm sure you'll succeed." But unlike Seto her voice bleeds with emotion, distant, and perhaps even sad.

Even someone as emotionally clueless as him can read into that. It's still a bizarre reaction.

"If Aether would let me at their facilities, I could do it even faster," he scoffed. "It's been a long time since I've heard 'I don't know' so many times in one day, and I've never liked it."

He gives her another considering look. "But I've forgotten my manners. You are...?"

(Hey, he's really, really not Mr. Manners.)

Things that don't reach the rumor mill when you're a century after someone's time; how much of a jerk someone may or may not be.

Yuume is doing her best to put as much distance in her words from Seto as possible, which is a fairly tricky thing to do without looking away. And looking away is rude.

So she's not doing that. "Yuume. Souryuu Yuume," she clarifies, nodding her head. Souryuu is...far from traditional a name. But she has an excuse, and a reason, so she's ready if that draws questioning.

"...Blue Dragon?"

Kaiba actually snorts and reaches up his sleeve, holding one of his beloved Blue Eyes between his fingers. He turns the picture to face her.

"If I believed in a thing like destiny, I'd say that was suspicious. The game would've evolved considerably by then...presumably they'd revamp the cards too."

Yuume shakes her head. "Close...it's the other reading. 'Pale' Dragon- I apprentice for a business known as the White Dragon, so I took the name as mine," she explains.

She does chuckle at Blue Eyes though. "Blue Eyes is...probably not very sturdy on their own, you're right about that though...actually, there are a number of summon methods that were created after your time..!" she laughs a bit more. "There was Fusion of course, and Ritual...but now there is also Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum..." She lists them, leaving the 'best' for last. "And most recently, 'Armor'."

Kaiba snorts and takes note of these other methods. "Mm. The game would have to evolve to be more and more extreme to keep players' attention for centuries, wouldn't it? I could've shaped the world with what I was building..."

She doesn't have to tell him what happened. He already suspects it, even if he doesn't have the 'how' correct. "What is it that the White Dragon does?"

"...We have a really stable dimenisonal rail, if it helps your concerns..." He can't possibly have guessed that he goes missing. No way. Never. Something, strike her down now if he has,

But...

Beyond that she'll skip to the White Dragon. More specifically to trying to think about how to explain the White Dragon at all.

Shit. "Ahhh...." This is going to look So, So bad, isn't it. "It's...something of a clinic and an investigation service in one I suppose..." she hums, looking down as she considers. "...I've had to help with a few police cases..."

Nailed it perfect,

"A detective, then?"

Detectives...the good ones, anyway...were decent sorts to have around, provided you could trust who they worked for. And that was a big if, but Kaiba could at least respect the work that went into it.

"No wonder you're on the pulse of the town. But aren't there more useful places to learn?"

"A little? More of a specialist, if anything...believe it or not, it's technically a part time job; I use the pay to cover my tuition in University," she chuckles, looking to the side. Ahhh...

"...Perhaps there are. But...sometimes the most useful information can be in the last place you would look, neh?"

"Mm. You're right. But I'm still working on a foundational knowledge base of this world."

He gives her another curious look. He hasn't started university yet (he'll do a compressed schedule when the company has a planned lull) but he knows he'll work at it.

"What are you studying, then?"

"I intend to major in Ancient History," Yuume replies proudly. There is a particular gleam in her eye that almost challenges him on it, in fact- a remnant of a far, far older time in her heart.

His next question, naturally, is then:

"How ancient?"

His tone conveys a little suspicion, like he thinks he's being set up somehow. It's a terrifying coincidence.

"Hahaaaaahh...." Alright, she'll give him a dry laugh for that- the suspicion is just barely notable enough for her to pick up on what he's thinking. "You're far from ancient, trust me...I'm talking about the sort of thing that would be a few thousand of years old, at earliest. Things such as the Egyptian Era of Shadows, or the Signer War of South America, or 'Atlantis'...that sort of thing," she rattles off, entirely unaware that at least Two of those things are part of Seto's own awareness.
