WELCOME TO FALLERS RPG PATCH 1.1: OVER THE RAINBOW!

Welcome one and all and Alola! to the Alola Region! The peaceful islands of Alola is once again, brought forth it’s beautiful Manalo Festival. But on this day, strange things are happening!

On this day, Ultra Holes are opening up, all over the Islands, and people known as Fallers are arriving on the island from other worlds. What sort of strangeness has this prompted such amazing things?

To this end, President Lusamine has re-mobilized her Ultra Guardians in response, and has created a response team from them to help these Fallers recover from the shock of arrival!

But that’s not all. It seems the Tapus have taken note of these Fallers and their uniqueness, and have nudged Pokemon and Eggs towards them, to be recovered by them. What new and exciting things will they see?

Perhaps we will see, as the Fallers are allowed to roam Melemele, for now, as guided tours of the other three Islands and Aether Paradise and Manalo Stadium will be given in short order. For now, homes will be provided for those who have been displaced from their homes until a suitable solution for their situation has been found.

IC: The Four Kahuna and President Lusamine's Address

At the top of the hour, when all the Fallers have gathered at the Manalo Festival Center, Hala, the Kahuna of Melemele, stands at the platform. His voice rings out clear and true across the people.

"People of Alola! On the day of the Radiant One's revival, once again the Ultra Holes have opened up over Alola. This time, people of many nations have arrived in our lands. We, the Kahunas; Olivia, Nanu, Hapu and I, as well as President Lusamine of Aether Foundation, has decided to allow these people to seek shelter and refuge in our lands."

"This is but a temporary solution," said Olivia, taking her turn. "We hope the people of Alola will take these people in with open arms, in their times of need and help them recover."

"Many of them, after interviewing some, come from broken and tired worlds," said Nanu. "Struggles from near and far, have become known to us. It is our hope that our worlds will become closer as a result."

"As such, we have reformed a powerful force indeed to deal with the crisis at hand," said Hapu, as the stage buckled and moved, revealing a team of children dressed in Ride Uniforms, led by Ash Ketchum. "You may know them as the participants in the first Alola Conference!"

"The Ultra Guardians have served to protect Alola from the Ultra Beasts in secret," said Lusamine. "It is our hope with the cooperation of Madam Bewear and her Family," and they indicated the massive Bewear and Stufful who stood at the back of the crowd with Jessie, James and the rest of Team Rocket in their Civilian Outfits, "that we will be able to intercept Fallers and recover them and bring them to a safe location at all points in time in the day and help them acclimate to the world."

"Please, everyone give us your support!" Exclaimed Hala.

As one, the people of Alola roared as the assigned family members, started greeting their newfound adoptees with bright "Alolas!" and "Cousins!"

IC: Gamewide Mingle

As Fallers, you may explore the island, learn about the place, and interact with the various NPCs on request. There are several to meet and different locations to explore!

Pokemon School: A place of learning, the school has opened its doors temporarily for shelter while deciding what to do with the mass influx of people from other worlds. Those who stay will be located to homes. Enrollment into the classes will be optional, and will start in the end of Summer.

Aina Cafeteria: A wonderful restaurant run by Mallow and her father, they run a tight ship of food, and wholesome meals for those to enjoy. You can even work here if you want.

Beaches: Sun, surf, fun, many places here for relaxing and fishing and other such fun. You can go swimming, surfing and using Ride Pokemon to travel and Jetski on.

Tapu Koko’s Forest: A place full of life and Pokemon, learning about this place as it covers most of the area is a wonderful idea as the forest covers a good portion of the island.

Honey Fields: The local bird Pokemon Oricorio frequent this place, and there’s plenty to see here. A relaxing place, with honey and flowers everywhere.

Hau’oli City The main city of Melemele, this is where all the action is! Food, venues, shops, Pokemon, the Market, everything is here. Even your new homes.

IC: PROMPTS!

You can make up your prompts from here! But a selection of ideas are below from the TDM.

1. Arrival
You’ve just arrived! While not an ideal prompt for your test sample, it makes for a good testing for your first reaction here! Having fallen, gotten off the boat or plane from another region, your passport is stamped and processed. If you’re a Native, there’s plenty to see, and can go about your day. But if you’re a Faller, there’s a tour guide waiting for you. Just hold on tight!

2. The Sandy Beaches
Perhaps you’ve had the time to acclimate yourself to the area, and just want to relax now. It’s time to relax in the sunny beach, throw yourself onto the sand and surf, and just chill. You’ve had a long,tough time, and now just want to sleep. Or maybe you’re too excited! This is another world, or another region! Perhaps you’ve been planning this trip to Alola for ages, and now its time to play! The choice is yours!

3. Shopping
What’s a trip to Alola without shopping. There’s food, accessories, more food, clothing, and tourism. Ride some Pokemon, find some things to do. Eat some malasada and shop at Aina’s Kitchen and Team Rocket’s Honey Donuts. If you want to escape the heat, there’s always the mall.

4. Pokemon!
Of course! Pokemon are everywhere. And maybe your Fated Encounter is upon you now. The Tapus are urging a Pokemon to come to you, be it in an Egg format to make its way into your hands, or perhaps a bird or a bug or whatever. Somewhere, a partner is waiting for you, you just have to meet them. And then, perhaps, you will be able to make friends! Just remember in this world? You don’t catch Pokemon -- Pokemon catch you.

5. Travel
There’s plenty to see on Melemele even in one day. There’s a lot of places to travel even by foot, and a lot of room, even in this place. There’s forests, hills, the town, the smaller suburbs, and beaches, an island off the coast, and the honey field even within walking range. Take time to explore and get to know the place, you may be staying for a while until the Ultra Guardians can send you home.

6. Battle
What is Pokemon life without Battling? Now that you have your Pokemon, you can battle with them. But Pokemon battles aren’t just about training but about forming a bond. There’s no such thing as levels in this world, the level system isn’t really a thing here. Sure there’s math and science to count the precise numbers of a Pokemon’s strength but we don’t dwell on this sort of thing. What’s important is forming these bonds with your Pokemon, and learning how to communicate with them, making precious ties with them. Eat, sleep and cherish them as your own family. Manalo, and Ohana. No one is left behind, or forgotten.

7. Freeform
Anything Goes! Come at you, this is a wide world, make up your own prompt!

Kaiba's hand was up, quick as a shot.

"How is the research into returning us to our worlds being handled? I have some experience in the field and can consult."

There's a little impatience in his tone. He wants No Part of this nonsense for any longer than necessary. He tries to draw himself up to his full height and look intimidating, but its difficult when the heat's beating him down.

Oh this one was all on Wicke. Looking every inch the Gentle Mom as compared to Lusamine's Imposing Mom, she smiles gently, her Trademark 1000 Watt Smile beaming down on Kaiba.

"We at the Aether Foundation will be handling that. If you'd like, you're welcome to come and look at our facility once we get it up and running. While we had perfected our process of sending Ultra Beasts through the Ultra Holes in the past, the same cannot be said for the Fallers, so more careful caution must be prepared to send someone home."

She held up a finger with a cheerful smile. "We wouldn't want you getting lost in the middle of Ultra Space and land in a volcano!"

It's been a harrowing few days. Kaiba spends as much time as possible flipping through book after book, determined to teach himself enough to mitigate as many unpleasant surprises as possible.

His Goomy is nearby, seated on a beanbag chair he's covered in plastic. She coos happily at everyone who passes. while her owner occasionally passes her a berry around his book, 'Pokémon Nutrition And You'.

He wants to survey the perimeter of the island to look for places of interest (and a new base of operations), but there's one problem: the former richest man in Japan is now flat broke. He's at the dock waiting to rent a Ride Pokémon, but with the influx of visitors, only a Lapras is left. And with today's demand they'll only rent it to pairs.

He agonizes over this setback for a while, but eventually sizes up the crowd and finds someone else in line to approach. "If you want to rent a ride today, they'll only rent the Lapras to a pair. Do you want to sign?"

He figures he can always dive into the ocean and swim back to shore if this arrangement doesn't work out.

The daytime is too much for Kaiba. Too much fuss, too much noise...he much prefers the open road by firelight. He eventually settles by the side of the road on this clear night, and he can be seen at his small campfire, carefully contained.

"Still wandering this late?" he mutters upon seeing someone, mostly to himself. Well. He's one to talk.

"Of course not," he said dryly. "I'll visit whenever you're prepared. You've taken notes on us from our entrance interviews, I'd assume, but looking at the process will let me better target my offerings."

And he's pretty sure he can take over and do it better eventually. That too. But that would be showing his entire hand.

"Of course, and please, by all means, there is a shuttle if you'd better like to understand the Aether Foundation's inner workings. There's a tour from 9 to 5 at various points in the day," said Wicke. "I'll personally give you the guided tour Mr. Kaiba."

Already giving him the polite treatment, and a generous offer to show him around the facility. It was clear that Wicke was a practiced hand with stubborn CEOs.

Misa had been walking through the market with the Mistress and Jocko. Then, she'd found herself on a beach. A very nice woman had brought her to hear this obvious group of politicians talk. She doesn't understand, but at least she has a pack of a few things. She'll be able to maintain herself.

She looks around the square, wearing her white dress, and make up far too old for her. She's made to look like she's in her twenties, when it's obvious that she is not, wearing heels that she's still a little awkward in.

She frowns, seeing the creatures that are walking along with their humans. That is unusual for her. But she's drawn to the shopping. She is given something to eat, by one of the enterprising people that have set up food stands. One of them assures her she can have something for free just this once. Misa curtsies, bemusing the woman, and wanders away, holding her food.

It's... terrifying to be without the Mistress or a guard. There's no one to care for her. She stops short as several of the animal things go running past with a group of children, laughing. She wonders what it's like to be that carefree. She bumps into someone and stumbles in her heels. "I am so sorry!" She says, immediately ducking her head. She's expecting a slap, even though the Mistress isn't there.

The days and nights here are odd. There isn't a rhythm to them like there is on Canto. And no Houses, either. That concerns her. She's walking along the road, thinking about what the Mistress and Jocko would think of her, being unable to sleep this early - early being relative.

She's still in her white dress and heavy make up, but she's changed her heels for the flats she found in her bag. She's just walking along, when she senses someone ahead. She hasn't spoken to many people today, but everyone else seems to be as confused as she is about this whole place.

She stops and curtsies to him. "My apologies, sir, did I disturb you?"

Instead of a slap, there's a "ruff!" and a panting noise as a literal Lycanroc licks her face in delight and nuzzles her repeatedly.

"Hey, Lycanroc, you're troubling her," called out Ash with a sheepish call, jogging up to Misa as he sheepishly watched his Lycanroc greet the girl enthusiastically with one of his rough scratchy nuzzles. "Sorry about that, he just really loves people! Oh hey, you're one of the Fallers Bewear retrieved from the Ultra Holes! My names Ash Ketchum, I'm an Ultra Guardian."

He grinned at her. About her age, with dirt on his nose from some kind of rough-house training, the young man was accompanied by a Pikachu which rode on his shoulder. "This is Pikachu, and Lycanroc. We were just out for a run. Where'd you come from?"

"Hey, hey, Rotom, what book did Professor Kukui want us to pick up again from his office?" asked Ash, walking into the room where Kaiba was at the Pokemon School.

"It was Theoretical Pokemon Tunneling - Pathways Between Worlds," said Rotom. "That's under T."

"Man, Profeossor Kukui sure leaves a lot of stuff laying around." said Ash, then noticing Kaiba. "Oh hey, Kaiba! What's up? Did you get settled in yet? How's Miss Anela?"

"You didn't. It was just a question."

Kaiba gives her a curious once-over. That's not exactly trainer wear...but he hadn't come dressed for the weather either. Maybe she just hasn't had time to shop yet. Or she has another goal in mind. For his part, he's (reluctantly) switched to a short sleeved blue button-up and white pants, and there's a happy Goomy sitting at his feet.

"Are you headed back into town?" Part of him is admittedly a little concerned.

The beast touches her! She yelps and pushes it away. Oh by the Force if it messed up her make up! She glances in a window, but it doesn't seem to have. Or dislodged her fake eyelashes. Good.

She stares at the boy. She doesn't have to be nice to him, except he has a Title, and that means something. He introduces the creatures, like she should greet them. Should she? She doesn't know the protocol, so she settles for curtseying to this boy.

"My name is Misa, Guardian." She says, softly, in her sing song voice. She wonders what the protocol is. No one has told her.

She doesn't give him her real name. That is never given out, unless she gains a patron. She hasn't as of yet.

"She's fine. She helped me procure these berries."

No, he's not really supposed to have food in school, but it's all in the name of practical research, he tells himself.

"...have you ever read that book, Ash?"

He's pretty sure he knows the answer, but he should ask anyway.

She freezes. He sounds irritated. She wonders if she did the wrong thing. She had time to shop, but she doesn't approve of any of the clothing they had. It isn't what she's used to, and she doesn't think the Mistress would approve.

She doesn't have a Pokemon, as she's learned the beasts are called. Not yet, anyway.

She looks toward town. "No, sir. I..." She isn't sure what she should say, so she reaches for the truth. "It's not what I'm used to." She admits.

"I don't think any of us are used to it," he grumbles. He looks up at her again, that pesky concern still worming its way in. He's irritated, sure, but not at her.

"You can rest here until you know where you're going," he offers brusquely, making room on his overturned log. "There's some stew left over that I'd rather not leave sit overnight."

And he'll pass a bowl over if she seems at all receptive.

She bites her lip, then steps cautiously off the road onto the soft ground beside it. "Thank you, sir." she says softly, perching primly on the log next to him.

She gladly accepts the stew. It isn't Freema food, but it'll do. Freema would be busy in the kitchen right now, with her army of helpers, making everything for the guests and the courtesans. She eats delicately, like she thinks she shouldn't eat it, but is hungry and has never gone hungry before.

"Did you make this?" She asks, curious.

[HONEY FIELDS - A FATED ENCOUNTER]

It was so relaxing, out here in the fields. Yuume breathed in the scent of the flowers around her, a light breeze blowing past as she closed her eyes. It was hard somehow, to force herself to take a break. Even without work. Even without classes. Even without...them.

It was relaxing here though, and quietly she savored the moment, the tang of the flowers stinging pleasantly. And yet in all that...

She realized she wasn't alone. "...a rabbit..?"

Not quite. "D...diiinoo..?"

And yet, even they themselves aren't alone, now that another person is on the scene.

[TRAVEL-A]

"For all that I'll need to get some things, I'm going to need some work to do that..." It's a struggle, truthfully. She doesn't want to take advantage of her hosts too much- they're being very very generous as is. But ultimately her former side-job-of-choice isn't here...At all.

Which leaves only one thing really. "Ah...Excuse me?" she'll ask the nearest person. "Have you seen a college, or similar perhaps? ...I know there's the school, but I'm not really the age for it..." In fact she's not that age at all. Yuume was in University before she came in here. And her side job was, well... ...Technically a job most would do fulltime, and a very world specific one. So doing something else is...hmm.

She could try waitressing, but she's a little worried about that...

[TRAVEL-B]

She can see the endless ocean from here, and it makes her feel nostalgic to a point. The clouds and the water both stretch endlessly into the horizon until they blend together, and Yuume finds her eyes half closed as she wonders what to do. Or even where to go. "Auuudinooo?"

...She has a friend here too she supposes, and she bites her lip when it notices something is wrong, as usual. She's noticed that about the large pokemon- it...Hears things, all things, and just seems to know when she's nervous. When she's anxious. When... "...I... ...I'm fine, genuinely," she says softly, attempting to reassure it.

The pokemon of course can't be fooled. "Diii noooooo."

Yuume sighs, and ultimately sits next to the 'rabbit', holding her head. "Fine, fine..." She'll relent to Audino shoulder pats, and just hope no one comes and sees...

While he appreciates the formality, it just makes things a little more awkward.

"I did," he shrugs. "I don't usually cook. But I remember the basics."

He gives her a small nod. "My name's Kaiba, by the way. Seto Kaiba. You're new to this world as well, right?"

"I haven't spoken to the professor yet. I'll have to."

Kaiba gave her a curios look. "Have you found housing yet?"

He's had a kind elderly lady offer, but he's really, really reluctant to accept.

"He's fairly enthusiastic," Yuume notes. It's unclear if that's a compliment.

And housing... "Ah...yes, actually," she answers, blinking. "A couple who runs a pancake house... ...I'm hoping not to impose for too long, but it would be just a little unwise to try camping about on my own in a foreign region..." Yuume mutters, grimacing.

"You?"

Wow, did she have to call him out like that? Kaiba only just barely avoided flinching.

"I was...actually planning on doing that. The elder woman who runs the fruit stand spoke to me, but I don't make a habit of accepting charity. If that's even what it really is."

He really, really has trust issues.

[Tapu Koko's Forest - A FATED EGG-COUNTER]

Her shoes crunch lightly on the grass, her dusty and worn clothing faded in the brush. How did she get here? Reira should be supervised, but ultimately it's so easy to lose the child that it's no surprise she's wandered off. And as to where that is...

She doesn't know. She doesn't seem to scared about it. Everything here is...nice. Or seems nice.

But she's scared. Not of everything else.

Of her. Of the thing she was supposed to lock away. The thing she can't hear right now. The bracelets are still on her arm after all...does that mean she did it?

Or did she fail? She wanders the woods, quietly unaware of a certain Tapu's nudging. For now she just wanders...in the silence.

Is someone else there..?

[AINA CAFETERIA]

"Greens... ...And 'grains'..." Reira is doing her best to employ what she's learned from 'Mister Seto Kaiba'. Greens are important, and grains, and meats, and...well a lot of food is important, so she's slowly looking over the big menu to try and find what she's supposed to look for.

It's hard, this is hard, and she could use a hand. "Mnh..." She looks into her little money pouch.

She could also use some change.

[NPC CALL OUT - HOUSING TIME]

"S...Sophu...Sophocles..."

She's doing her best to pronounce this name, but it's a bit of a doozy. More than that though, apparently...this is the one who's going to let her stay with him? Reira's bag hangs awkwardly off her back, and she resists the urge to pick at her worn and dusty clothes (they've talked about how they're going to help her replace those, and help her find new things, 'don't worry, it's going to be fun', and she can't help but actually worry).

"...H'llo." This is nerve-wracking...

[WILDCARD Ideas? Plans? Hit me up!]

"It doesn't hurt to exercise some caution, at least..." It's a good thing he avoided flinching- Yuume has literally no idea she found someone who Was intending to camp around. "It's a tricky situation- they've got us all at quite a disadvantage, with few possessions, no clear way home... ...Admittedly, part of what has me feeling at least a little safe is the similarities so far to Hawaiian culture."

The spirit of Aloha really is showing up in........Alola.

(The spirit of Alola then??? She shouldn't think too hard on this.)

She can't help it. He is older than her, and that requires formality. She isn't sure of her footing, and that requires formality.

"It is nice to meet you, Mr. Kaiba. I am Misa." No courtesan has a last name. Those are traps of the people who have a chance at marriage. She looks up, toward the woods, where some of the Pokemon start making noises, and then they calm down some. She cocks her head to the side.

Finally, she goes back to eating. "I am. I am from a planet called Canto Bight." She frowns at the stew, not having looked at him, since the first initial glance. "I'm unsure as to what system it is in, though."
