WELCOME TO FALLERS RPG PATCH 1.1: OVER THE RAINBOW!

Welcome one and all and Alola! to the Alola Region! The peaceful islands of Alola is once again, brought forth it’s beautiful Manalo Festival. But on this day, strange things are happening!

On this day, Ultra Holes are opening up, all over the Islands, and people known as Fallers are arriving on the island from other worlds. What sort of strangeness has this prompted such amazing things?

To this end, President Lusamine has re-mobilized her Ultra Guardians in response, and has created a response team from them to help these Fallers recover from the shock of arrival!

But that’s not all. It seems the Tapus have taken note of these Fallers and their uniqueness, and have nudged Pokemon and Eggs towards them, to be recovered by them. What new and exciting things will they see?

Perhaps we will see, as the Fallers are allowed to roam Melemele, for now, as guided tours of the other three Islands and Aether Paradise and Manalo Stadium will be given in short order. For now, homes will be provided for those who have been displaced from their homes until a suitable solution for their situation has been found.

IC: The Four Kahuna and President Lusamine's Address

At the top of the hour, when all the Fallers have gathered at the Manalo Festival Center, Hala, the Kahuna of Melemele, stands at the platform. His voice rings out clear and true across the people.

"People of Alola! On the day of the Radiant One's revival, once again the Ultra Holes have opened up over Alola. This time, people of many nations have arrived in our lands. We, the Kahunas; Olivia, Nanu, Hapu and I, as well as President Lusamine of Aether Foundation, has decided to allow these people to seek shelter and refuge in our lands."

"This is but a temporary solution," said Olivia, taking her turn. "We hope the people of Alola will take these people in with open arms, in their times of need and help them recover."

"Many of them, after interviewing some, come from broken and tired worlds," said Nanu. "Struggles from near and far, have become known to us. It is our hope that our worlds will become closer as a result."

"As such, we have reformed a powerful force indeed to deal with the crisis at hand," said Hapu, as the stage buckled and moved, revealing a team of children dressed in Ride Uniforms, led by Ash Ketchum. "You may know them as the participants in the first Alola Conference!"

"The Ultra Guardians have served to protect Alola from the Ultra Beasts in secret," said Lusamine. "It is our hope with the cooperation of Madam Bewear and her Family," and they indicated the massive Bewear and Stufful who stood at the back of the crowd with Jessie, James and the rest of Team Rocket in their Civilian Outfits, "that we will be able to intercept Fallers and recover them and bring them to a safe location at all points in time in the day and help them acclimate to the world."

"Please, everyone give us your support!" Exclaimed Hala.

As one, the people of Alola roared as the assigned family members, started greeting their newfound adoptees with bright "Alolas!" and "Cousins!"


IC: Gamewide Mingle

As Fallers, you may explore the island, learn about the place, and interact with the various NPCs on request. There are several to meet and different locations to explore!

Pokemon School: A place of learning, the school has opened its doors temporarily for shelter while deciding what to do with the mass influx of people from other worlds. Those who stay will be located to homes. Enrollment into the classes will be optional, and will start in the end of Summer.

Aina Cafeteria: A wonderful restaurant run by Mallow and her father, they run a tight ship of food, and wholesome meals for those to enjoy. You can even work here if you want.

Beaches: Sun, surf, fun, many places here for relaxing and fishing and other such fun. You can go swimming, surfing and using Ride Pokemon to travel and Jetski on.

Tapu Koko’s Forest: A place full of life and Pokemon, learning about this place as it covers most of the area is a wonderful idea as the forest covers a good portion of the island.

Honey Fields: The local bird Pokemon Oricorio frequent this place, and there’s plenty to see here. A relaxing place, with honey and flowers everywhere.

Hau’oli City The main city of Melemele, this is where all the action is! Food, venues, shops, Pokemon, the Market, everything is here. Even your new homes.

IC: PROMPTS!

You can make up your prompts from here! But a selection of ideas are below from the TDM.

1. Arrival
You’ve just arrived! While not an ideal prompt for your test sample, it makes for a good testing for your first reaction here! Having fallen, gotten off the boat or plane from another region, your passport is stamped and processed. If you’re a Native, there’s plenty to see, and can go about your day. But if you’re a Faller, there’s a tour guide waiting for you. Just hold on tight!


2. The Sandy Beaches
Perhaps you’ve had the time to acclimate yourself to the area, and just want to relax now. It’s time to relax in the sunny beach, throw yourself onto the sand and surf, and just chill. You’ve had a long,tough time, and now just want to sleep. Or maybe you’re too excited! This is another world, or another region! Perhaps you’ve been planning this trip to Alola for ages, and now its time to play! The choice is yours!


3. Shopping
What’s a trip to Alola without shopping. There’s food, accessories, more food, clothing, and tourism. Ride some Pokemon, find some things to do. Eat some malasada and shop at Aina’s Kitchen and Team Rocket’s Honey Donuts. If you want to escape the heat, there’s always the mall.


4. Pokemon!
Of course! Pokemon are everywhere. And maybe your Fated Encounter is upon you now. The Tapus are urging a Pokemon to come to you, be it in an Egg format to make its way into your hands, or perhaps a bird or a bug or whatever. Somewhere, a partner is waiting for you, you just have to meet them. And then, perhaps, you will be able to make friends! Just remember in this world? You don’t catch Pokemon -- Pokemon catch you.


5. Travel
There’s plenty to see on Melemele even in one day. There’s a lot of places to travel even by foot, and a lot of room, even in this place. There’s forests, hills, the town, the smaller suburbs, and beaches, an island off the coast, and the honey field even within walking range. Take time to explore and get to know the place, you may be staying for a while until the Ultra Guardians can send you home.


6. Battle
What is Pokemon life without Battling? Now that you have your Pokemon, you can battle with them. But Pokemon battles aren’t just about training but about forming a bond. There’s no such thing as levels in this world, the level system isn’t really a thing here. Sure there’s math and science to count the precise numbers of a Pokemon’s strength but we don’t dwell on this sort of thing. What’s important is forming these bonds with your Pokemon, and learning how to communicate with them, making precious ties with them. Eat, sleep and cherish them as your own family. Manalo, and Ohana. No one is left behind, or forgotten.


7. Freeform
Anything Goes! Come at you, this is a wide world, make up your own prompt!

It's been a harrowing few days. Kaiba spends as much time as possible flipping through book after book, determined to teach himself enough to mitigate as many unpleasant surprises as possible.

His Goomy is nearby, seated on a beanbag chair he's covered in plastic. She coos happily at everyone who passes. while her owner occasionally passes her a berry around his book, 'Pokémon Nutrition And You'.

surf:

He wants to survey the perimeter of the island to look for places of interest (and a new base of operations), but there's one problem: the former richest man in Japan is now flat broke. He's at the dock waiting to rent a Ride Pokémon, but with the influx of visitors, only a Lapras is left. And with today's demand they'll only rent it to pairs.

He agonizes over this setback for a while, but eventually sizes up the crowd and finds someone else in line to approach. "If you want to rent a ride today, they'll only rent the Lapras to a pair. Do you want to sign?"

He figures he can always dive into the ocean and swim back to shore if this arrangement doesn't work out.

The daytime is too much for Kaiba. Too much fuss, too much noise...he much prefers the open road by firelight. He eventually settles by the side of the road on this clear night, and he can be seen at his small campfire, carefully contained.

"Still wandering this late?" he mutters upon seeing someone, mostly to himself. Well. He's one to talk.

STARS - because I need this CR like burning.

The days and nights here are odd. There isn't a rhythm to them like there is on Canto. And no Houses, either. That concerns her. She's walking along the road, thinking about what the Mistress and Jocko would think of her, being unable to sleep this early - early being relative.

She's still in her white dress and heavy make up, but she's changed her heels for the flats she found in her bag. She's just walking along, when she senses someone ahead. She hasn't spoken to many people today, but everyone else seems to be as confused as she is about this whole place.

She stops and curtsies to him. "My apologies, sir, did I disturb you?"

"You didn't. It was just a question."

Kaiba gives her a curious once-over. That's not exactly trainer wear...but he hadn't come dressed for the weather either. Maybe she just hasn't had time to shop yet. Or she has another goal in mind. For his part, he's (reluctantly) switched to a short sleeved blue button-up and white pants, and there's a happy Goomy sitting at his feet.

"Are you headed back into town?" Part of him is admittedly a little concerned.

NEVER APOLOGIZE. He's one of my fave characters EVER. I love his relatioship with Mokuba

She freezes. He sounds irritated. She wonders if she did the wrong thing. She had time to shop, but she doesn't approve of any of the clothing they had. It isn't what she's used to, and she doesn't think the Mistress would approve.

She doesn't have a Pokemon, as she's learned the beasts are called. Not yet, anyway.

She looks toward town. "No, sir. I..." She isn't sure what she should say, so she reaches for the truth. "It's not what I'm used to." She admits.

Aww :) luckily she's young-looking enough to trigger bro instincts

"I don't think any of us are used to it," he grumbles. He looks up at her again, that pesky concern still worming its way in. He's irritated, sure, but not at her.

"You can rest here until you know where you're going," he offers brusquely, making room on his overturned log. "There's some stew left over that I'd rather not leave sit overnight."

And he'll pass a bowl over if she seems at all receptive.

She bites her lip, then steps cautiously off the road onto the soft ground beside it. "Thank you, sir." she says softly, perching primly on the log next to him.

She gladly accepts the stew. It isn't Freema food, but it'll do. Freema would be busy in the kitchen right now, with her army of helpers, making everything for the guests and the courtesans. She eats delicately, like she thinks she shouldn't eat it, but is hungry and has never gone hungry before.

"Did you make this?" She asks, curious.

While he appreciates the formality, it just makes things a little more awkward.

"I did," he shrugs. "I don't usually cook. But I remember the basics."

He gives her a small nod. "My name's Kaiba, by the way. Seto Kaiba. You're new to this world as well, right?"

She can't help it. He is older than her, and that requires formality. She isn't sure of her footing, and that requires formality.

"It is nice to meet you, Mr. Kaiba. I am Misa." No courtesan has a last name. Those are traps of the people who have a chance at marriage. She looks up, toward the woods, where some of the Pokemon start making noises, and then they calm down some. She cocks her head to the side.

Finally, she goes back to eating. "I am. I am from a planet called Canto Bight." She frowns at the stew, not having looked at him, since the first initial glance. "I'm unsure as to what system it is in, though."

School

"Hey, hey, Rotom, what book did Professor Kukui want us to pick up again from his office?" asked Ash, walking into the room where Kaiba was at the Pokemon School.

"It was Theoretical Pokemon Tunneling - Pathways Between Worlds," said Rotom. "That's under T."

"Man, Profeossor Kukui sure leaves a lot of stuff laying around." said Ash, then noticing Kaiba. "Oh hey, Kaiba! What's up? Did you get settled in yet? How's Miss Anela?"

"She's fine. She helped me procure these berries."

No, he's not really supposed to have food in school, but it's all in the name of practical research, he tells himself.

"...have you ever read that book, Ash?"

He's pretty sure he knows the answer, but he should ask anyway.

"Me? Naw, this is actually one of Professor Kukui's research books," said Ash. "This is way over my head."

He grinned a little. "I just stick to basics really. How are you doing, Kaiba?"

"As well as I can be, given the circumstances," Kaiba shrugged noncommittally. "I'm not one to infringe on people, so I'm doing what I can to become established and ease my burden to society."

And Goomy has eaten most of it. He snorts and nudges his gooey girl. "Sick of us yet?"

School

Nagihiko came into the school, curiously. He noticed the tall boy there, but as Nadeshiko had met him, he didn't go over or greet him by name. He got the same small shy nodd that everyone else got. Nagihiko seemed content to quietly examine the shelves for a while. But then he spotted an interesting looking book. That he couldn't reach. He carried over a chair, so the scraping noise wouldn't bother anyone, but even standing on the chair, was just too short.

He took a breath then walked over to Kaiba. "I'm sorry to bother you, sir, but you seem to be the tallest person here. Could I just ask you help me get down a few books? I'd appreciate it."

Well...this was new. Most people in Domino were never close enough to Kaiba to talk to him, and the few times they were (that brief moment when he had to attend high school in freshman year, for example) most knew better than to ask for such things. He blinked down in surprise. At least the kid had manners.

It was for that reason and that reason alone that he nodded and turned to the shelf. "Which books? Unless you want me to clear the whole shelf."

[nadenagi]

A small sheepish smile. "The ones about eggs? As best I can tell there are three of them together, but they're all almost as tall as the shelf so I can't even tip them from below."

If this guy didn't say anything about his looking familiar, then he wasn't going to mention his sister at all. Which would actually be for the best, if it was a pattern here.

"Right. Eggs."

Kaiba selects those books and offers them to him.

"Planning to become a breeder, then?"

[nadenagi]

He gave a small shrug. "There is so much information here," he said softly, "I figured it was best to start somewhere, and eggs seemed like a logical beginning."

Or he is trying to figure out if there is a connection between the egg stories here and the Embryo,.

"So the egg came before the chicken after all," Kaiba mused. He stacked the books carefully and walked them to a table, casually dropping another question.

"I've met someone else who looks similar. Is she your sister?"

[nadenagi]

He would rather not get into the chicken/egg argument since to him the answer was that actually the children came first, and that would only serve to confuse things. But he did give a small smile. "You met Nadeshiko?" he asked then nodded. "She's my twin sister."

Surf

[utauhoshina]

"You again? What, doesn't that blob thing count as a second?" she asked flatly. Her charas, meanwhile, were happily greeting Goomy again.

But the news he brought annoyed her. She had been looking for a chance to see a bit more of this place and thought that these odd... pokemon that would carry people around would be the way to do it. But she had no plans to share anything with him. A quick glance showed why he approached her though. There were no other single riders, everyone in the line was paired off or in a big group. Ugh. This is why people irritated her. Well, one of the many reasons.

"She's clearly not big enough to count," Kaiba grunted. He wasn't happy about this turn of events either, not in the slightest.

"Look, I don't like this either, but our options are going together or giving up and trying again next week. While I'm not necessarily opposed to that, who's to say next week will be better?"

[utauhoshina]

She rolled her eyes. "Somedays I am almost tempted to believe in a higher power just out of certainty that SOMEONE has to be messing with us for their own sadistic amusement," she muttered. The pokemon would be treated to the devil chara laughing hysterically. "Fine. But you're paying the fee."

"What do you think I am, made of money?"

Well...at home, he is, but not here. Still, he reluctantly pays out of his food fund and allows her to claim a spot first.

"Well I didn't think you were the type to offer a girl a ride and expect her to pay," she said with a shrug, then takes her spot and settles in as best she can while trying to keep up a "cool" outer character. The charas are happily chatting with Goomy still, she is ignoring them, pretty sure the devil one is making fun of her. She was, as it turned out, more or less correct.

"Chivalry is outdated," he groans, but he supposes she has a point. So he'll just...quietly pay the rest.

The ride starts fairly quietly. Kaiba is content to do what he set out to do and take in the sights, but Goomy is continuing to chatter excitedly. At nothing. That's strange.

"Goomy, quiet," he admonishes. "For some reason, my Pokémon seems to like you"
