Episode 2: A Rainbow Sparkling in the Sky

Today marks a momentous occasion for the Fallers. While the Music Festival has begun on the Island, and the Museum of Arts and History are exhibiting a new exhibit, all of the Fallers have been summoned to the Pokemon School for a very important request by their Rotoms.

"Thank you all for coming," said Burnet, standing in the classroom with the children of Ash Ketchum's class. "As you know, we of Alola have faced many challenges here, with the Ultra Holes opening up. Even now, more Fallers appear day by day. That is why, with the recent acceptance of the Totem Pokemon and their declaration, we have decided to extend our request."

Sliding up the chalkboard, there was a huge button behind the chalkboard as part of the classroom slid open to reveal an elevator. "Please, if you would step forward and take the elevator down."

Once downstairs, the Fallers would find themselves in a huge Command Center, filled with highly advanced technology as a Chansey greeted them, with a new crop of Meltan from nowhere. "Chansey!" She exclaimed, pressing a button as a holographic display appeared. Someswhere in the middle of it, the Alola School Children had been clothed in Armor on the way down, and they saluted Lusamine who appeared on the display.

"Alola, Ultra Guardians. Alola, Fallers. I'm Commander Lusamine, of the Ultra Guardians. And I have a request for you all. I'd like for you all, no, I humbly request for you to join the Ultra Guardians in some capacity, to defend Alola and find a way home for you, as well as defend the Island from Ultra Beasts. We are facing a sudden International Crisis of unprecedented levels, and I wish to explain..."

This was uncomfortably reminiscent of Doma Castle. Yotsuyu frowned. And definitely that mechanical monstrosity could not be allowed to escape. But she'd managed to make her way in, and she was by no means helpless!

"Ajisai! The mecha, please! Use Bonemerang!"

Defeat the Ultra Guardians? Hardly.

“HAAAAAA!”

And from behind the arriving Rainbow Rockets is Ellen Cure Beat, launching herself feet first at the Venusaur mecha.

“You guys aren’t going anywhere!”

Yuzu couldn’t help but gawk - this wasn’t an Action Duel at all. What was this?!

The Jigglypuff, however, was more focused on the other creatures. With a grump, it went for a Tackle towards the Muk.

"Audino, you know what to do!"

"A-Audi..!" A sad fact- Audino does Not in fact completely know what to do. But as Yuume dives into the shadows and rockets toward the newly arrived mech, she can do her best. And her best is...

Heal Pulse. Best get the party all buffed up and what not. "AaaaAAaauuuuu..."

Yuume meanwhile has one goal and one goal only.

Get. That. Wing. Launching forward from the shadows her sword is finally drawn, pointing forward and tearing through the metal that's already been pried into by the others. As far as the grunts and goons around will see, Yuume seems to then melt into the machine...

Or more accurately, the shadows cast by the 'injury'. They know she's there. But where in there? The shadow shifts and charges for her goal, uncaring if she's spotted by what now holds pilots the beast.

Screech and Thunderbolt all rake across the battlefield, inflicting chipping damage on the group of Rocket enemies, scattering the men as they start their attacks but to no avail. The Screech confuses the whole lot of Pokemon as Yuume digs into the mecha even as Alolan Meowth clips her.

Bonemerang slams into the Mecha, tilting it forward moments before Cure Beat Slams into it's back dealing a good chunk of damage. It collapses to its knee, but this has an added bonus of snapping the pilot out of her Confusion.

Jigglypuff in the meantime barrels headlong into the first Muk and knocks it on its back, dealing moderate damage before bouncing back.

In the din, Cassidy yells, "Rockets! Counter with your attacks!"

"Sludge Muk, let's go!" Shouts one of the Rockets.

"Smokescreen Wheezing!" orders the other. Their targets? It's a blanket attack on all of the Pokemon for both groups.

"Use Flamethrower Arcanine," orders Cassidy, "Take out Anabel's Alakazam!"

"Not so fast," retorted Anabel, "Psybeam!"

The pair of attacks slammed together, blasting into a huge explosion as it forced all parties backwards from the effect as Carnivine snaked out his arms and grabbed the briefcases.

"Got em," said Butch. "Let's get out of here Cassidy."

While Bridge hadn't entirely planned on getting involved, it was hard not to if apparently things inside caused a blow-out that knocked a hole in the wall of the wing. He arrived just in time to see Carnivine pickup the briefcases with its vine arms.

"Soundbyte, Supersonic!"

Jumping off his shoulder, the Noibat flew at the Carnivine, sending a screeching soundwave at the grass Pokemon.

"Shoot-! They're going to get away! Nin, come with me! Portus, everyone, cover us!"

Vee, Yan, and Monta start firing out Thunderbolts, Air Slashes, and Flamethrowers. Portus takes their attacks under his control and directs them to collide headfirst with the blanket attack. They push back and forth for a few moments before eventually Sena's team wins out, and the resulting explosion ends up damaging the enemy team.

"Nin, use Double Team and get past these guys! I'll follow you!"

Nin follows his commands, and while she splits up into duplicates, Sena mentally counts down the people and Pokemon between him and Butch. Five. Three Rockets...Two Pokemon. He maps out the route he needs to take in his mind before running, making sharp cuts and turns. The two Pokemon go after Nin, apparently seeing her as the bigger threat. Surely three adult Rockets can stop one college kid, right?

Nope. One, two, three, he counts in his head as he ducks under them and weaves around their attempts to grab him. When he's out of his trance, he's gotten past the Rockets and can face down Butch and the mech, but...

Nin's still stuck. She wasn't able to avoid the two Pokemon sent after her.

"Erk-!" That didn't quite go according to plan. What the heck is he supposed to do by himself?!

This was not in any way ideal. Not at all. Yotsuyu let out a hiss from between her clenched teeth. She let down Gosetsu from where he'd been relaxing in the crook of her arm.

"Gosetsu! Help Nin!" She was not entirely certain as to what her Oshawott could do, but she did know that Sena's Pokemon couldn't withstand the onslaught it now faced. Not alone.

"Ajisai! Again!" she called to her Cubone, and the little creature sized up the mech again, throwing her bone against the mechanical monstrosity.

Gosetsu pulled the shell off of his stomach, narrowing his eyes to gauge the distance as he waddled closer. "WOTT!" he grunted in a ferocious manner, before pitching his shell at one of the Pokemon harassing Nin. It smacked the creature in the face, before bouncing off the heads of three other oppressors. The Oshawott preened himself, looking quite proud.

"No time to rest on your laurels, Gosetsu! Stay wary!"

Trip watched the battle unfold. The mecha was an unwelcome new addition... as were all the new enemies on the field.

There were two Alakazam on the team, so if they could work together, maybe they could take down the Arcanine and most importantly, the Carnivine with the briefcases...
He walked closer to Anabel and withdrew a pokeball. “I think the three of us could raise the pressure on them.”

Anabel raised a brow questioningly. “What do you mean?”

“Alright, Lampent, come on out!”

Assuming a commanding air, he threw out an arm, then curled his hand into a fist. “Psychic on Carnivine and Arcanine! Careful with the briefcases.”

Lampent cried out and the psychic energy bound the two Pokemon, restricting their movement.
Upon seeing that, Anabel smiled and realized the plan. If it were just Lampent, the move wouldn’t inflict much damage, especially as Lampent was attacking two at once, but with three Psychic types, they should overpower them!

“Alakazam! Attack Arcanine and Carnivine with Psychic too!”

Alakazam also joined in, the combined Psychic attacks not only restraining them, but building pressure and excruciating pain!

A giant robot. There is a giant robot and it stole the thing and apparently everyone in team rocket has to have some stupid dramatic entrance. Ugh. He gives his head a shake and refocuses in on this mission. He's got this. No worries.

"You guys are being like super extra and I' gonna need you to dial it back."

He fires his webs up at the mecha near the chest cavity the Rainbow Wing is stored in and sticks to the outside. It's a little rough-the mecha starts to flail and it's very, very difficult to keep holding on. How strong is this metal? Can he stick his arm through it or should he focus on the rainbow thingy?

Whatever. He shakes his head again and times the flailing of the mecha to smash his fist into the glass protecting the Rainbow Wing and quickly grabs it.

"I'll take this!"

Kaiba bites back a curse when they escalate. This is going to end in horror and tragedy, isn't it? He generally believes the best defense is a strong offense, but Goomy is in danger.

"Use protect!"

She does, thankfully, and even manages a little pushback against the malevolent ice cream cone. He turns back to the battle and silently nods his agreement. He climbs for a higher vantage point, trying to see the full scale of the battle.

Robot. This was like Entrapta's dream. She didn't want to know Entrapta's dreams!

"Okay, you guys are going down!" Exclaimed Adora, bringing Sword back to normal as she charged forward but then was intercepted not by one but Six Rainbow Rocket Grunts. "I don't want to hurt you guys," she said. "If you just--oof!"

The first hit came as a surprise. It actually HURT. She felt pain as She-ra, she wasn't invincible but Adora gripped sword and swung, but the Rocket Grunts were faster, raining blows in a style that seemed almost... Familiar but it couldn't be... through the pain, Adora was being beaten from all angles and with a scatter, Sword went flying and she detransformed, skidding back into the pavement as her head bounced off the marble.

This is a mess.

"KGH..!" The meowth's laser hurts, of course. There's no denying that and it actually forced her out from the shadows, which is alarming in itself. But now she's behind- well, in front of the cat now that it's paused from using the controls- Alolan Meowth...and she's not happy.

Peter is on the machine's front. He's got the wing, and all they need to do to guarantee that is take this cat out of commission. So Yuume sneers behind her mask, eyes narrowed. "Did you think," she hisses, snatching at the cat, "That I would simply leave from that..?"

Fury swipes comes next- of course the cat is going to protest to being hauled off, and with a snarl she moves to hurl them to the side despite the multitude of lacerations sustained.

That, of course, is when she feels the heat of the backup.

There's no time to duck into the shadows.

There's barely any time to even get her cape up.

"KH- KRRRHHHAAAAUGGH..!"

Yuume, however briefly, is on fire. Her Audino, still trying to handle healing and the like, is too far to offer assistance. And Yuume... "Khhk..."

She manages to somehow hold a glare of success even while falling backward onto the controls, the expression of resentment reserved entirely for Cassidy. "Was that...meant...to hurt...?"

The mech, under the weight of the woman on the controls, starts pelting forward.

Yuume's good arm clutches to the machine and she grits her teeth, even as spots start entering her vision.

PHASE 3 - FINAL BOSS - VENUSAUR MECHA

Everything's happening at once. Supersonic had battered Carnavine long enough for the Psychic to slam and restrict it and the Arcanine before the suitcases flew up and over into the grip of the Ultra Guardians. Courtney let a satisfied smile play over her lips as she saw Spider-man retrieve the Wing. "Get the wing to safety!" she shouted to Peter as she went to defend Yuume.

"Camerupt, Extreme Speed!" exclaimed Courtney, showing just why she was an Ex-Admin.

Camerupt decided to go all out and slammed into Arcanine, sending it shooting through the hole in the wall and out of the building as Anabel smirked. "Best give up now," she said to the Rockets as she turned a Psychic onto the advancing Rocket Grunts to freeze them in place to prevent them from attacking Adora further. "Your partner is down Cassidy, there's nowhere to hide. Ultra Guardians, deal with the Robot, shut it down! We'll clean up the rest of the enemies here."

As if sensing its defeat, the robot suddenly SPOKE.

"Hello? Hello? Is this thing on? Yeah hi. Hi there. I thought this might happen and the field operatives might be beaten, so I decided to make sure that it will keep you all busy! Have fun everyone! Let me know what this does later, this is science in the works!"

Literal boss music started bellowing from hidden speakers as the robot stood up fully, and then sprouted different parts until it was a bigger, beefier robot. With a grunt, it threw Spider-man and Yuume off, Yuume towards Seto and Spider-man towards the wall as it burst through the wall once more. Once outside, it glowed with the rainbow R.

"I call it the Venusaur Mark II E-Edition! Test it out for me? I'm sure it'll be fiiiiiiine," said the voice. "Have fun!"

Kaiba grimaces at the sight of it. Of course. Of course this would get even more impossible. He seriously had some work to do if he ever got the full extent of his lab supplies back.

And then there's Yuume hurtling toward him. He braces himself and goes down with a soft 'oof', but thankfully they don't fly hard. He presses a small pack of berries into her hand and looks up, grateful that Goomy escaped and found her way back.

"What."

That's...about the extent of it right now.

Everything's gone sideways now. Now they're dealing with a gigantic mech!

"Sheesh, if only the others were here..." Cure Beat muttered. This is way too much for her Haunter right now. Summoning her Love Guitar Rod, she knew exactly what to do.

"BEAT SONIC!" She shouted, strumming a chord and launching a flurry of arrows at the mecha Venusaur.

Oh god, there's too much going on here. With the psychic attacks tossing Carnivine aside and throwing Butch off course, and Yuume falling onto the controls, it's cut Cassidy off from everyone else. Just when he thinks he can tackle her to end this, the mech starts moving on its own! Sena "hiees" and starts running again, moving to tackle Cassidy anyway - it won't do much good at this point, but at least she'll be out of the way.

"Hiegh..." Sena's managed to successfully disable her, but... "What to do now, against this kinda thing..."

"What're you doing, kid?" a voice comes from his Rotomdex, who isn't the peppy Suzuna-like voice he's used to. "We gave you some new toys - use 'em or lose 'em!"

"New...huh? Oh!" Sena pulls out a Dynamax Ball, one of the new tools they'd been given to try. "This could change everything, to go up against a mech like that...Monta! Return!"

Sena manages to somehow hit Monta with the beam coming from the ball despite the distance between them, before the ball expands in his hands.

"W-whoa! Wait, wait, wait!"

He clumsily shoves it above his head, stumbling in place for several seconds before he can find his footing. His legs are shaking from even holding it up.

"Ghhh-! Monta! Go all out - Devil Backfire!"

Sena wheezes, then throws the ball clumsily. Monta's appearance from the ball, however, is anything but - he leaps forward, growing in size as he coats himself in blue fire for a Dynamaxed Flare Blitz. Powered up by the sun, it manages to push the mecha back, before Monta slides into the second part of the Devil Backfire combo: Close Combat.

It's several powerful blows one after the other, and while they don't topple the mecha over, they sure are providing openings for other characters to chip in.

By now, Yotsuyu realized that her Pokemon were not going to be able to do much damage to this Venusaur mecha--although she still held out hope for Ajisai, who'd done so well so far.

But first things first.

"Gosetsu! Tail Whip!" She blessed the kami silently that her Oshawott was an agile little fellow, who leapt forward, performed the move, and leapt back.

"Now, Ajisai, once again! Bonemerang!" By now, it was not the allure of damage that called Yotsuyu to ask her Cubone to make that move--but the hope of making the mecha itself flinch. If only...

Yuume is flagging, unfortunately. She knows she's landed somewhere. She also knows fighting is still happening. Vaguely, she thinks she can recognize Seto, but....

"N...nnhh..."

Yuume, unfortunately, is passing out.

Has, passed out.

Audino however is still conscious and kicking, and her trainer being in such dire straights only spurs her onward. With a feral bunny roar she charges, tiny fists smacking against the legs of the robot with all her secret-power-might. Go down!! Go down, you horrible machine!!

Peter is thrown towards a wall but with a bit of quick thinking he's able to shoot out a web and keep himself from smashing into it. He grabs the building and pulls out a pokeball.

"Hey Peeves, you like possessing stuff right? Go get it!" He tosses the ball and Peeves the Rotogeist does its favorite thing-which is possess the giant robot. This is fun! Look how bit it is now!

Well, it's under control for now. At least until Peeves decides to play with it. Before he can figure out his next move, a familiar voice fills his ears. Mr Stark!

"Hey kid! I'm kinda stuck in the ground right now so here, deal with the big honking bot for me. I'm sending you something fun. Karen? Unlock the suit."

"Yes sir." Karen replies, and in the next moment there's a wae of nanobots flying at him and like some bizarre dream, Peter finds himself piloting the Iron Man suit.

"Oh my god! This is awesome!" Peter exclaims, looking down at the Iron Man gauntlet now incasing his hand. "Okay, Peeves, let it go, I'm gonna blast it in its face. Karen-or-uh Friday? Whatever. Whoever. Increase flight power to fifty percent."

"Peter, Are you you sure that's-" Friday starts to cut in.

"I'll be fine, do it!" Peter waves the warning off.

The flight power increases dramatically and Peter shoots right through a billboard and straight into the mecha bot with a painful thud.

"Ow..." He whines before sliding down the metal bot and then falling to the ground.

"Multiple contusions detected." Friday informs.

"Yeah, thanks. I noticed." He whines again.

"Possible concussion detected. Alerting Mr Stark." Karen informs.

“Gligar-Man!”

Sorry, Peter, you guys spoke just once a while back and Trip kind of confused you with an unrelated comic book character (again... I mean, just spider is weird, it’s like calling an animal by its scientific name). But it’s a show of concern anyway!

Speaking of which..
“Vanillite, get him out of danger.”
“Vanillite!” it said seriously, trying to salute with too short arms, before cheerfully floating over and attempting to pull Peter along... a little too small and slow!

Sunny Day, we’ve got to bust that robot!

“Serperior, go! Solar Beam on that thing!”

Serperior emerged and immediately glowed with sun-white energy, firing it at the robot. But without the need to collect that energy, the robot also fired back its own beam with similar ease. The two Solar Beams met with a blinding flash and both surging powers struggled to overtake the other... the situation seemed like it might lead build to a dangerous conclusion, but remained at a standstill.

While Trip worried about the outcome, he felt a strange chill and caught a glimpse ofltowering ice from the corner of his eye.

“SUBZERO SLAMMER!!”

The small white fox-like Pokemon at the peak sent down a blast of cold air and ice crystals that froze over the entire battlefield, as a beam cuts through to the robot. Ultra Guardian Lillie had used her Z-Move and the combined attack overpowered the robot, allowing Serperior’s Solar Beam to finally reach its target.

The Tail Whip did it's job, debuffing the robot's defense as Monte plowed into it with the Devil's Backfire. It staggered under the rapid fire impacts, the plating unable to withstand the Fire attacks which were amplified by the Sunny Day's effect. Bonemerang slammed into it's arm, shattering it completely as Serperior's Solar Beam fired down the middle of the pack.

The mecha tried to counter with it's own Solar Beam and for a moment from the other hand and it clashed, but from the side, a wave of freezing ice from Lillie's Z-move blasted into it's legs, causing it to topple forward into the Devil's Backfire and pitch backwards off balance as the Solar Beam went into the sky, and Serperior's beam sheared off the other arm.

Even with Spider-Man slamming into it's chest making a sizable dent, it was sparking, damaged, still standing but the feet was cracking and creaking with ice damage. One more good hit and it was down for the count. At this moment however, it decided to start its own counter attack and fired a Seed Bomb, raining attacks onto the battlefield -- or it would have if not for the Beat Sonic slamming into each and every Seed Bomb and then slamming fully into the robots chest, staggering it to its knees.

One final hit, even with both its arms blown off, the robot was still moving.

“Puff!” The Jigglypuff was not going to let this go without it getting in a hit. It was sore from the Toxic, but still willing to fight!

To “Zuzu”’s shock, it charged forward, delivering a powerful Pound attack.

“Jeez, such a tough thing...” she uttered

Over on the hill, Kaiba is doing his best to wiggle free from under his niece. He carefully lays her down and rises up to view the battle...there goes Peter flying, Adora's still out cold, the team is on the ropes...it's time to go hard.

And his tiny little goo dragon agrees. She makes a small cry of distress, then puffs up a little to her full size...which is still only up to Kaiba's knee. She lets out a loud cry and small meteorites come shooting from the sky, targeting the other leg.

Draco Meteor. Huh.

"Serperior, Dragon Tail on that robot!"

Serperior's tail glowed with gathered energy, glowing, before it launched itself into the air and swung it like a sharpened blade on the sparking robot.
