A 4thFaller Event! - Gloriously Open!

It seems everything is peaceful in the four worlds at the time being. Things have calmed relatively down since the incident last month when Glomgold and his minions attacked Alola and Aether was lost to another world.
And then suddenly, the skies inverted. Going a brilliant violet color for a brief moment as the world’s colors turned inside out. There was a flash of familiarity from Ash as he looked up at the sound of a familiar cry as from the depths of the hole left behind where Aether once stood, a huge form erupted.
“What’s that?” asked Lana, leaning over the railing of the school as a massive form circled overhead.
“Giratina!” Exclaimed Ash, a pit opening up in his stomach at the sight of the legendary Pokemon. Not again…
With a massive roar, the legendary Pokemon slammed down into the courtyard of the school as students scattered and Pokemon tensed up for battle as the legendary roared. The air around it shimmered as the light of the Distortion World flashed around them as members of the assembled defense force that were stationed at the school’s portal summoned their Pokemon.
In a shimmering flash, I.Z.U. appeared next to the Ultra Guardians. “Warning,” she said, in her placid if slightly alarmed tone. “The presence of Giratina has severely compromised the structure of the dimensional fabric around Alola.”
“Meaning what?” asked Kiawe, tense and ready for battle as Giratina started pacing around in a circle.
“Giratina’s presence will cause people to slip through the boundaries of time and space at an alarming uncontrollable rate.” replied I.Z.U. “The chance of us controlling the rate of Falling is 0.0000001% until Giratina is returned to the Distortion World. Chances of Capture, are even less than that.”
“No way…” said Sophocles. “So what do we do now?”
“Hey guys?” said Mallow as Giratina started to hunker down like an oversized cat. “Is it me… or is Giratina…”
“About to take a nap…” finished Ash as Giratina started to sleep soundly in the courtyard, unconcerned with the Pokemon who were still tense up by its presence.
I.Z.U. tilted her head. “It seems it has gone into some sort of hibernation. Rotom-dex, please monitor it from here. I will return to the base and begin preparations to receive the new arrivals.” With that, she vanished.
Rotom sighed. “Sure, leave me to do all the hard work-roto.”
Ash rubbed his head with a sigh. “Well, I guess…? School’s still on! Even with a sleeping legendary Pokemon in our yard! But we should probably get a reception going for everyone who’s going to start appearing. Let’s go tell the town that more people are going to appear!”

"That's my knowledge to hold," he murmurs softly. "If I'm someone to you, someone you truly knew and know and once cared for, then it shouldn't be a question.
"That you don't makes this all the worse. So tell me," he hisses, his fists clenched. His eyes are for the 'thief' and only him. "What did you do to yourself?"
cw: reference to the kul elna massacre
"If he got away, you'd remember him." The cobra interrupts in a cool tone.
"Tch!" 'Thiefy' ...has to admit the cobra has a point, but he'd rather be angry. That was a low blow and at bare minimum this familiar-stranger should know it - so he sweeps an arm in a grand dismissive gesture, bracelets jangling. "Maybe there's just nothing worth remembering."
"Brat -"
"Fine, but - ugh." The man in gold grumbles to himself a bit as he refocuses. When he looks back to the goatherd, he has a smile in place. A too-sharp smile, but it's not entirely a forced one. "It's been a while - I really have done a lot. The question's too broad. I can guess what you meant, but don't blame me if I guessed wrong.
"Hm, where do I begin... Well first I grew up in a village of faceless, insane ghosts - which you seem to have forgotten, but hey that's understandable, it's very a forgettable -"
"Brat -"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm getting to it." 'Thiefy' waves off the annoyed cobra's incoming objection. Then he looks at the goatherd flatly, anticipating a different objection. "And I tried to fix them, I really did. That's what led to me making off with one of the Items - and then wouldn't you know it, but that just didn't go well." He snaps his fingers in a 'well, dangit' gesture. "I was dying, the pharaoh had taken my name - the demon's, too - but he'd also left me alone with the one Item I could bargain with, sooo... H-heheh..." He shrugs, grinning. "Now, I'm about to skip over a lot, but if I guessed your question right, that's all irrelevant to the answer."
And he begins counting off on his fingers: "I convinced the demon to give my plan a try; I gambled that the pharaoh's Item would hang onto Diabound's Name for us and got that right in one; so we invoked my ka's Name, and with it I opened a connection to him through me from the Ring, and from the Ring through the Door to - well, the rest of the demon in question (we are avoiding certain Names here); aaand..." 'Thiefy' pauses for a moment, genuinely doublechecking that he's covered the major steps, before placing his hand on the cobra's head: "...we replaced the essence inside Diabound's form with his."
'Thiefy' and the cobra both look to the goatherd then, not to gloat or make some show of defiance, but simply wanting confirmation that 'Thiefy' had answered the right question.
Behold: idiots.

"Then do you remember the Astronomer?" he questions darkly. Neker in their language, Tragoedia in another, one who left the village to work in the Palace walls because his knowledge of the stars was undeniable. "Do you remember where you were, before?"
He had been alive when they all left him to return to the village, but he knew not if that lasted for very long. But the true 'boy' would know him.
Well. Unless he didn't exist, he supposed. That...was a very real risk as well.
But anger builds- and he's no wise sage, he's still a young man, with a temper and opinions. "And did you have to then!? You could have left! You could have escaped them to LIVE! Move on, and cast the dark behind you!" he roars, his dragon Silent as it studies them. "HOW DID ANYONE GET YOUR NAME, WITHOUT YOU PRESENTING IT IN SOME WAY! The minute you sided with the things who cursed them to start with, any protection you had disappeared! Your shadow..."
He chokes on his words- and he chokes because he cries.
"It was beautiful....capable of so many things, changing for so much, and you've gutted it so that that can wear its skin..."

"Left us for the pharaoh, wasn't it? Such a reasonable plan, with such interesting timing, h-heh." 'Thiefy's leer is bitter. "But 'where was I 'before'' what? If you want anything about that day, afraid the ritual was just too memorable. Kinda overshadowed whatever else you're wanting me to recall and recount here."
But for all the bitterness of his response - 'Thiefy' can't truly begrudge the information. Kul Elna gets privileges, he owes Kul Elna, and even if this one's really weird - Kul Elnan. If he wants explanations, he gets them. And if he's being demanding and invasive about it - he gets to be, he's owed more than 'Thiefy' - than even 'Thiefy' and the cobra combined - will ever have to give.
Suggestions otherwise are not welcome.
The shift is immediate - the man in gold snarls audibly, trembling; while the cobra goes very still and begins to watch that man very, very carefully.
"Leave? Like that astronomer - and YOU? Abandon them?! All of them, like that, while they're suffering - and BECAUSE they're suffering - just leave them all, alone - oh, or maybe I should've left them alone with 'that'!" He gestures wildly at the cobra, just barely missing smacking that cobra in the face - the cobra doesn't flinch, but his eyes narrow.

But as the thief protests, his own anger builds. Until finally- "I TOOK YOUR PLACE!" he thunders, stamping his foot to the ground. "I SAW WHAT WOULD COME, AND WHAT I COULD NOT STOP! I SAW A PRIEST ACT AGAINST A KING'S ORDERS AND KILL AN ENTIRE VILLAGE IN ONE NIGHT, FOR THE THING YOU SOLD YOUR SOUL TO!" the man continues. The tears overflow, and the shadows at his feet roil, and it is hard to tell if he is more miserable than angered.
"SO IF ANYONE WAS TO LIVE, I WANTED IT TO AT LEAST BE MY NEPHEW! AT THE VERY LEAST, THE ONE WHO HAD A CHANCE!" He chokes.
Quiets, words tainted by his tears. "And look what you've done with it..."

This is what cobra was watching for - and with striking-speed, he blocks 'Thiefy's path, rearing taller and glaring down at the thief. His back is fully to the other angry young man and Suspect Spirit-Entity, but they're not the ones here he's worried about. "What are you doing? Look at him."
"Get out of my way." The snarling's returning to heated from icy which. may or may not be an improvement, humans don't generally snarl quite like this in the first place,,
"Look. At. Him."
A beat. "Can't. You're in the way." The snarling itself is finally diminished, which is an improvement. The thief's tone is sullen in a way that suggests he might just be trying to make the cobra move, though.
"So look around me, I've not blocking your eyes!"
Surly grumbling as the thief leans to peer past the massive cobra. His eyes are still glowing (if less intensely) and the miasma is still in place.
"What are you looking at?"
"You just told me to -"
"Yes I did, but what. are. you. seeing?"
The thief glowers at the other man past the cobra once again. "I'm seeing that bastard Ku..." The glow and miasma finally retreat as the thief remembers: Kul Elna. Kul Elnans are allowed to be bastards, especially to either of them.
"Calm yet?"
"...I'm tired." The thief sounds tired too - more like an old man than the young one he appears to be.
"Even better." And the cobra continues past, allowing the two men clear line of sight on each other again. He stays nearby though, still watching the thief. "Have I mentioned how much I hate being your impulse control?"
'Thiefy' sighs, looking nearly as tired as he'd sounded. "Once or twice." And he just. looks at the goatherd. He can't not say anything, but what can he say? What's worth the effort? What's worth saying at all.
The thief takes another breath... alright, second try. "So. You wanted that. But it didn't happen. And now it can't happen." They should all focus on... moving forward. Weird Kul Elnan (...his uncle, apparently?) included.
That is what they should all focus on. Yep.
...But?? Still though?? "I can't believe you just - you really thought I'd just run off? What did you think I'd do with a 'chance'? Why wouldn't I try to help my family?" That's? so insulting??

Maybe they have...The herd doesn't move- he knows he won't be struck, and he watches the pair with narrowed eyes, studying the cobra in particular. It doesn't Act like he would expect of the thing he's associating to it. Not quite at least.
"...After we met, I took you for a year. One year of travel, from end to end of the nile," he ultimately announces, his head bowed. "...And to keep you from the fate that would be yours, convinced you to play a game."
Hide and seek, he told them.
The village was offlimits.
(But he forgot the passage he'd known as a child...)
"...It had been my hope...that despite the misery, you would know there was still something to live for... The tragedy of our village would only compound on itself. Darkness begetting more darkness, a cursed priest forcing his kin to suffer for his crimes..." That much he remembers. A voice in the desert, presenting staff, presenting cloak...
Presenting a name...
"There was already enough pain, even before it happened. Pain that wouldn't be helped by things like this."
