Lighting of the Banyan Tree Holiday Festival!



Today in Po town, a place once long neglected due to its proximity to Team Skull, things have decided to come to pass once more as Team Skull has revived a festival. The Lighting of the Banyan Tree has been revived for the first time in ten years!

For the last 20 years, Alola has celebrated this festival, celebrating the planting of the Banyan Tree planted in 1873 by Sheriff Jenny to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first Missionary. The tree was brought over from a region far away and spreads across an acre. Each one of these towns have a tree of their own since the original tree was left unattended in Po Town as it took over the once abandoned town. But since Team Skull has finally reclaimed the once abandoned town and has decided to make good of the land, they have reopened the land and invited the people of Alola into the walls of Po Town. Rich with music, both Skull-like and Christmas-like, it has decidedly become the new act of Goodwill from Guzma. Call it his best act of Christmas Cheer.

Guzma fucking loves Christmas you guys. Santa never forgot him. Ever.

With over 6500 lights, it officially kicks off the holiday season for the whole of Alola! The trees will be lit up from the 7th of December to January 1st.

The Maui Made Holiday Gift Fair will kick off at 9am in Po Town Park, and Guzma himself will be dressed as Santa around 2pm to receive people’s requests and accept letters to give to the Delibirds. Children are invited to take a free photo with Santa Guzma between 2pm to 4pm. Music will be available afterwards with holiday crafts, island style affairs and battling late into the evening.

Reira stares. He seems somehow familiar. Can't tell how. But anyway, she's staring, and so is her big big corviknight, who acts decidedly more like a fletchling or a rookidee.

Which it is far larger than.

Guzma is just finishing up with Acerola who is having way too much fun with the Santa Guzma concept and he was just adjusting his seat on his usual throne when he noticed the next kid in line. Oh it was the girl with the 1000 yard stare.

"Ho ho ho, kid, come on up, come and get a picture with Santa," encouraged Guzma.

He fucking loved Christmas.

"Tell Santa what you want for Christmas and we'll write it in a letter. We can't make it official unless we do that!"

Well, Reira is at least coming over for a picture. That much is going to happen, and she does at least seem a little excited. At first anyway.

By the time she's in picture range she looks rather bashful. "Umnh..." Boy she hopes Santa won't be upset.... "...I...I don't know what I want..." That's hard. It's so hard, Santa. "...'ve never had a Christmas..."

Ah. "Um...is it ok if I missed the other christmasses..?"

"Wow, would you look at that?" Della said, watching the tree lighting with her three Farfetch'd. "I mean, back home, something like this would ruffle Uncle Scrooge's tail feathers. Too much electricity means a big electricity bill. This... heh, it's amazing."

"Fetch'd!" "Fetch'd!" "far..."

"'Lame'?! It is not lame! I bet you could see this in the sky!" Della said, snapping at Rebel, the second Galarian Farfetch'd.

Mirio watched in awe, his Riolu watching in amazement as well as he exclaimed, "Luuuuu!"

"Yeah I hear you buddy, it's something all right!"

Hearing Della talking to her kids nearby, he chuckled. "I'm sure you could ma'am, this place is lit up across the entire city! These Team Skull kids did a great job rebuilding this town."

"That they did. It's really something, especially with it being Christmas and all." Della said. "The spirit hits everyone."

"Christmas huh... it's getting closer to that time in my own world too... but it's just barely past the holidays in my world." said Mirio. "I should write my letter to Santa. Get in line with Riolu as well, y'know."

"It's summer back home, I think. I mean, we just got through dealing with an alien invasion and all that, so I'm still just a little lost." Della admitted.

"Aliens huh... that's amazing! Back home, the space race basically stalled out because Super Powers developed in humanity a hundred years ago. They said we'd be exploring the universe by now if it hadn't." said Mirio.

"It must have been exciting."

“Eh, it was more frightening and it was more or less my fault.” Della said, grinning sheepishly. “But, not doing space exploration? Man, that’s boring! It’s the final frontier!”

"I really want to go some day," said Mirio wistfully. "I mean, knowing there's other worlds out there? Now? That really gets me going! Heroes and villains are one thing, but other worlds...!"

Oh look Della, one of the kids you might have seen on the trip and along on the plane back! Lana with her Pokemon are there, dressed for the occasion, in a holiday outfit of blue with a hat on her head. Her Pokemon, Marin and Primarina were dressed festive-like as well in hats as well.

"It's real something. Hello again ma'am!"

"It really is... ahh... wait-wait-wait, don't tell me... Lana!" Della said, pointing at Lana as she remembered her name.

Lana giggled. "That's right! Thanks for remembering. It's Della, right ma'am? And um... Jet, Turbo, and Rebel, right? Where's your Uncle Donald, the talking Psyduck? Is he with you today?"

It was a surprise that Adora made another Pokemon talk. Well, in accuracy sake, it was Fred who made him talk.

Honestly who let Fred have that kind of power?

"I let him wander off for a bit. I figured if he talked to some of the other Pokemon, he could figure out just where he needs to go." Della admitted.

Actually, he was on the roof nearby.

Marin, Lana's Eevee leaped off her head and ran up to Rebel before prodding the Farfetch'd. "Vee?" she asked in a way that implied that he should be more cheerful for the day. This was totally cool.

"Sounds like a duck who needs to learn what's on his mind," laughed Lana. "I'm glad you're enjoying your time here."

“Feeeetch’d...” Rebel groaned, looking away.

“Hey, at least I have company here!” Della admitted. “You always take things for granted until you don’t have them. And that includes people.”

Marin used Friendly Tackle on Rebel! You know, like a hug, but it's a tackle. It's what she does.

"Yeah, I get that. Having friends and company is always fun. I'm thinking of running down to the food stands, do you and the boys want to come?" asked Lana.
