"...everything I did..."
His voice is quiet, and his face hidden as he looks to the pikachu. But if one looks carefully, tearstains are beginning to colour the cloth and sand where they fall.
"...they weren't spared at all....were they then..."
It's unclear what he means.
Yet perhaps, not entirely.
