"If you 'took my place', then how are you here?" He continues to growl the words, but his tone turns cold and measured. His expression darkens further, and the intensity of his glare almost seems to set his eyes aflame with - oh, uh. Wait. His eyes ARE glowing, and the air around him is very much literally darkening with some kind of miasma. He takes a step closer.
This is what cobra was watching for - and with striking-speed, he blocks 'Thiefy's path, rearing taller and glaring down at the thief. His back is fully to the other angry young man and Suspect Spirit-Entity, but they're not the ones here he's worried about. "What are you doing? Look at him."
"Get out of my way." The snarling's returning to heated from icy which. may or may not be an improvement, humans don't generally snarl quite like this in the first place,,
"Look. At. Him."
A beat. "Can't. You're in the way." The snarling itself is finally diminished, which is an improvement. The thief's tone is sullen in a way that suggests he might just be trying to make the cobra move, though.
"So look around me, I've not blocking your eyes!"
Surly grumbling as the thief leans to peer past the massive cobra. His eyes are still glowing (if less intensely) and the miasma is still in place.
"What are you looking at?"
"You just told me to -"
"Yes I did, but what. are. you. seeing?"
The thief glowers at the other man past the cobra once again. "I'm seeing that bastard Ku..." The glow and miasma finally retreat as the thief remembers: Kul Elna. Kul Elnans are allowed to be bastards, especially to either of them.
"Calm yet?"
"...I'm tired." The thief sounds tired too - more like an old man than the young one he appears to be.
"Even better." And the cobra continues past, allowing the two men clear line of sight on each other again. He stays nearby though, still watching the thief. "Have I mentioned how much I hate being your impulse control?"
'Thiefy' sighs, looking nearly as tired as he'd sounded. "Once or twice." And he just. looks at the goatherd. He can't not say anything, but what can he say? What's worth the effort? What's worth saying at all.
The thief takes another breath... alright, second try. "So. You wanted that. But it didn't happen. And now it can't happen." They should all focus on... moving forward. Weird Kul Elnan (...his uncle, apparently?) included.
That is what they should all focus on. Yep.
...But?? Still though?? "I can't believe you just - you really thought I'd just run off? What did you think I'd do with a 'chance'? Why wouldn't I try to help my family?" That's? so insulting??
