Kaiba swallows. He can't really speculate, and it's pointless to try, so he sits quietly. His distressed Pikachu crawls up to nuzzle his neck and he lets her, giving her a gentle pat and closing his eyes.

"...I appreciate knowing. And I...apologize for the outburst."

He coughs. "But the essential facts are unchanged. I'll just have to learn to live with that."

He's lived with things almost as hard already.
